Version 2.3.8 Update Announcement (May 13)

05/13/2026 Version 2.3.8 Update Announcement (May 13)

Dear Metas,

The server maintenance and update is planned for May 13, 2026, at 4:00 PM (PT) and expected to last about 2 hours (actual time may differ). Please manage your time wisely.

This update brings new weapons and gear, an overhaul of the Chef class, new optimizations to the Tech system, the start of Lightforge Loot Crate: Ember Conclave, an upgraded Meta Pass with better cosmetic try-on benefits, and various optimizations and bug fixes.

After this maintenance, all players will receive the following rewards: Starchrom ×1,000, Mitsuko's Mark ×100, Stardust Secret Crate: S12 (Epic) ×1, and Colorful Badge ×30.

Below are the details of this update:

Content/Feature Updates

No Escape from the Storm Clouds!: New Weapons and Gear

The following weapons and gear will be available in all scenario servers except RaidZone. New weapons and gear for RaidZone will be detailed in an upcoming announcement. Stay tuned!

To make combat more diverse and exciting, this update will bring new weapons and gear. We hope every Meta will enjoy the challenge and visceral firepower they offer while exploring and surviving in Once Human.

New Weapon: Assault Rifle - AUG - Electron Cloud

Wield the power of lightning with this weapon! Master the rhythm of reloading and firing to unleash devastating ion storms upon your enemies.

Core Mechanic: Attacks have a chance to apply Power Surge. The first weapon hit after reloading will create a spherical magnetic field at the target location.

Chaotic Storm: Applying Power Surge to a unit within the magnetic field will generate an Electric Orb that moves erratically. The Electric Orb rebounds upon hitting the spherical magnetic field, dealing Shock Elemental DMG to enemies hit.

Stat Buff: When equipped, this weapon increases all Shock Elemental DMG.

New Weapon: Compound Bow - The Burden of Betrayal

The perfect combination of sniping and AoE damage! This compound bow fully utilizes the Bounce mechanic to blow up groups of enemies with Explosive DMG when fully charged.

Extreme Bounce: Attacks are guaranteed to trigger Bounce, and the numbers of bounces and targets are increased.

Echo Tag: Reload Speed is increased. When Bounce hits a target, it applies 1 stack of Echo. When fully stacked, the target will be visually highlighted.

Explosive Charge: When fully charged, Bounce DMG and Crit Rate are increased. When Bounce hits a target, it deals additional Bounce DMG equal to the number of Echo stacks on the target, multiplied by a fixed factor. (There is a cooldown for triggering this on the same target. After triggering, a certain number of Echo stacks are removed from the target.)

Single-Target Specialization: If Bounce is triggered by a direct hit, but there are no other targets nearby, the number of bounces back to the original target is increased.

New Armor: Glide Pants

These bottoms are customized for high-mobility builds and will completely transform your combat pace!

Tactical Slide: When equipped, the basic evasive roll will be replaced with a slide. After sliding, Reload Speed and Movement Speed are temporarily increased.

Perfect for Archers: If you are currently wielding a bow, sliding automatically loads 1 ammo, and increases bow draw speed for a duration. Pair with Compound Bow - The Burden of Betrayal for fluid combos!

New Armor: Magnetic Moment Top

A powerful field control core for Status builds!

Gravity Field: When equipped, enemy units inflicted with Power Surge will be transformed into "magnets" that continuously pull in other enemies within a certain range. Pair with AUG - Electron Cloud to easily group enemies together and wipe the field.

Comprehensive Chef Class Optimizations

We've received lots of community feedback on the class system. This update will bring comprehensive optimizations to the Chef class. Details are as follows:

Core Abilities

Dish Management: Chefs can now receive cooking orders from other Metas via the Campfire Stove. By completing these orders, they will receive lots of character EXP, Star Chef Popularity, and Energy Links.

* Campfire Stove Management Rules: After placing a Campfire Stove, Chefs can sell basic and creative dishes they've unlocked at customized prices. They can also deploy Chefosaurus Rex and add ingredients to the Campfire Stove to fully automate cooking. Other Metas can place orders by interacting with the Campfire Stove or finding it on the World Map using the Vending Machine view. Completed dishes will be sent to the buyer via in-game mail. If the dish isn't finished within the allotted time, the payment will be refunded to the buyer via in-game mail.

* Star Chef Popularity Rules: Chefs can spend Star Chef Popularity at a Campfire Stove to upgrade their kitchen or redeem special items. There are two kinds of upgrades available:

Upgrades to Orders and the Campfire Stove (only applies to the Campfire Stove and system orders): Campfire Stove: Long-Term Storage, Campfire Stove: Capacity Expansion I and II, Order Upgrade: Quantity Increase I and II, Order Upgrade: Rarity Upgrade I and II, and Order Upgrade: Express Orders I and II.

Upgrades to Dish Effects (applies to all stoves owned by the Chef): Grilled Dish: Slow Roast, Frozen Cuisine: Intense Chill, Canned Goods: Mini Canner, Grilled Dish: Grilling Master, Stardust Dish: Shell Break, and Spicy Pepper.

Items that can be redeemed with Star Chef Popularity include: Star Chef Trophy (limited to one per character), Portable Fridge, and various basic and deviated ingredients (up to 99 of each ingredient per day).

Class Traits

1. Ordering Terminal: To make food trading and distribution more convenient, Metas surviving on Nalcott have established Ordering Terminals at neutral settlements, Securement Silos, and some Strongholds. Chefs can rent an Ordering Terminal and link it to a Campfire Stove they have placed. Other Metas can then place dish orders through the Ordering Terminal during the rental period.

* Rental Rules: All Ordering Terminals start in an unowned state by default. Only Chefs can join an auction to rent an Ordering Terminal. Bids are made using Energy Links. The Meta who bids the most Energy Links will gain ownership of the Ordering Terminal for 7 days. After the rental period is over, the Ordering Terminal will revert to an unowned state, and a new auction will be held. If ownership conflicts arise due to a server merge or other reasons, the Ordering Terminal will revert to an unowned state.

2. Creative Cooking: Chefs can freely choose ingredients to craft unique dishes without being restricted by recipes. During creative cooking, there's a chance for a Success that grants the dish enhanced effects with longer durations.

3. Glutton: Chefs can consume more dishes at once and benefit from multiple enhancement effects (up to two food effects and two drink effects simultaneously). They also have refined palates for creative dishes, so eating the same creative dish repeatedly increases the potency and duration of its dish and ingredient effects (creative dishes with different optional ingredient effects are not considered the same dish). Chefs also have a chance to obtain extra ingredients from fridges, beverage machines, and food crates in wilderness settlements.

* Note: The Chef's original Glutton, Ingredient Scent, and Fine Cuisine traits have been merged into the Glutton trait.

Class Starting Items:

1. Campfire Stove: A stove facility that can be placed in the wilderness or in a territory. After this update, new stock and order management features will be added to this facility, helping Chefs to manage dish orders.

2. Gourmet Atlas: A field guide that records creative cooking recipes.

Note: After the update, duplicate Gourmet Atlas items in Eternaland will be deleted. Each Chef can only own one Gourmet Atlas.

Class Starting Formulas:

1. Formula: Basic Recipe: Grants the recipes for Roasted Meat, Roasted Vegetables, Juice, Bread with Jam, Pumpkin Porridge, Fruit Soda, Corn Soup, and Fruit Tea, allowing you to craft these dishes.

2. Formula: Advanced Stove: Allows you to craft the Advanced Stove.

3. Formula: Creative Recipe: Allows you to perform creative cooking at a stove without recipe restrictions.

S4 Visional Wheel Preview

S4 Visional Wheel: Gravity Abyss will descend upon Nalcott on May 27 (PT).

Gravity Abyss Gameplay Preview

1. Gravity Loss Returns to Nalcott

The gravity loss mechanic adds a new dimension to exploration, combat, and construction, bringing new experiences and challenges to Nalcott. With gravity loss making its return, you can once again enjoy vertical navigation and exploration.

2. The Riftwalker Descends

In S4: Gravity Abyss, the colossal Riftwalker is the cause of the gravitational anomalies affecting Nalcott. Its emergence presents Metas with new opportunities and challenges.

When the Vision begins, the Riftwalker will soar through the sky, scattering mysterious artifacts in its wake. Metas who find these artifacts will receive generous rewards, including Abyssal Cores of various rarities. To open an Abyssal Core, you must spend Gravity Crystals, a unique currency. All information about the Abyssal Cores' contents is sealed within the abyss—an Abyssal Core could contain nothing, or make you instantly wealthy. You must decide whether or not to open Abyssal Cores based on your needs. If not, they can also be freely traded. The choice is yours!

3. The Riftwalker's Trial

After scattering artifacts, the Riftwalker will temporarily stop at a specific high-altitude platform. Courageous Metas can reach this platform through a rift and challenge the Riftwalker in a multiplayer co-op battle within a vertical space. Metas who pass the Riftwalker's trial will receive lots of challenge rewards.

Performance Upgrade! Worldstones' True Forms Revealed

Worldstones are not isolated structures, but colossal organic entities spanning multiple dimensions, which they connect via complex biometallic conduits.

Volunteers who step into their beam lattices will be drawn into their internal systems, using the conduits to instantaneously travel between realms. This process is immune to all forms of interference and is currently the most reliable form of interdimensional travel.

In the past, Worldstones were obscured by a cognitive barrier, causing all observers to perceive them as pristine and golden octahedral crystals. Following the irreversible shattering of the barriers, these grotesque entities' true forms—composed of concrete, metallic conduits, and biological tissue—have been revealed. Far from beautiful, they nevertheless strive to help every Meta.

Worldstone Performance Upgrade: The appearance of Worldstones has been improved to better fit Once Human's bizarre lore and atmosphere. Now, when approaching a Worldstone, you will have an immersive exploration experience that's more authentic and mysterious.

Not Unlocked: Cannot teleport, and cannot be set as a respawn point.

Unlocked but Not Activated: Can be set as a respawn point, but cannot teleport.

Activated: Can be set as a respawn point and can teleport.

New Tech System Optimizations

1. Unlimited Exchange of Tech Enhancement Points: You can now go to Challenge Shop > Tech Shop and exchange 30,000 Tech Points for 1 Tech Enhancement Point. There is no exchange limit during a single scenario. (Note: When the scenario ends, the Tech system will be reset and all points will be cleared.)

2. More Ways to Earn Tech Points: To help you quickly advance the Tech tree, Tech Point materials can be obtained by defeating Elites or Great Ones and clearing Securement Silos or Monoliths. Additionally, new Tech Point rewards have been added to the Scenario Challenge system.

3. Return of the Portable Fridge: Due to popular demand, the Portable Fridge will be restored to the Tech tree, and its crafting formula's material consumption will be reduced! You can unlock it via reverse engineering, technological invention, or by spending Tech Points.

4. Electric Furnace Crafting Upgrade: Tech enhancement nodes will be added to the Hybrid Electric Furnace, Stardust-Powered Electric Furnace, and Recycling Electric Furnace. Now, you can unlock Petroleum Process, Art of Stardust Decay, and Sulfur Chemist on the same furnace, massively increasing your productivity!

5. More Items Purchasable with Old Currency: You can redeem semi-finished facilities and Recipe: Nalcott Easter Egg at the Old Currency Shop.

6. Building Load Reduction: The load of items in the Backpack's Building tab (such as Rescue Bots, Electronic Scales, and Microwave Ovens, but not including facilities obtained through recycling) will be massively reduced to give you more space.

7. Increased First-Clear Rewards for High-Difficulty Dungeons: When you clear a Securement Silo or Monolith on Hard or above difficulty, you will obtain a Weapon Body Liner Selection Box (up to one every 7 days) to help you upgrade your gear.

Makeup System Upgrades

1. Customizable Eyelashes: A new Eyelash setting will be added to the Makeup interface, allowing you to choose from various eyelash styles and colors. Changing eyelash color does not consume any items.

2. Interface Optimizations: Makeup items are now colored based on their rarities to make it easier to identify rare options. The Skin and Paint categories now have dedicated interfaces for clarity and ease of use.

3. Interaction Optimizations: Optimized the navigation logic. After selecting View Makeup Preset, you will be sent directly to the corresponding preset.

New Territory Livestock Recall Function

Added a way to recall livestock in your territory. You can now recall lost animals to your current location.

Customizable Territory Lighting Fixture Colors

Your territory, your vibe! You can now set the color and brightness of some lighting fixtures in Construction mode. Whether it's cozy warm lighting or cyberpunk rainbows, your ideal atmosphere can now be easily achieved!

* Note: This function only changes the visual appearance of buildings and does not affect lighting checks for Deviations and others.

New Finished Furniture Disassembly Function (non-RaidZone only)

You can disassemble finished furniture! Some finished furniture and their dyed variants can now be disassembled to acquire their crafting materials at a Disassembly Bench. Build your territory as you wish without worrying about wasted materials!

[RaidZone] Updates

[RaidZone] New Territory Retention Mechanic

When you exit your current scenario, your territory buildings and facilities will no longer be automatically dismantled. Instead, these structures will enter an unowned state, standing quietly in the wilderness, becoming scenery for passing explorers. This also prevents situations where raiding Metas lose out on materials due to the raided Meta exiting the scenario during a raid.

* Don't worry: all collectibles in your territory will be returned after you exit the scenario.

[RaidZone] New Territory Occupation Dismantle Restriction Mechanic

To create a fair and strategic competitive experience, we are adding a dismantle restriction mechanic to territory occupations:

When the occupier successfully occupies another Meta's territory, they will be placed under a 3-minute dismantle restriction. During these 3 minutes, the occupier cannot dismantle anything in the occupied territory. This gives the defender valuable time to regroup and counterattack, while making territory contests more strategic!

[RaidZone] Experience Optimization

To make logistical cooperation among Hive members easier and more efficient, all Hive members with territory permissions can share crafting queues. Members with permissions will be able to claim other members' finished items from their facilities.

[RaidZone] Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue where the cooldown for joining a squad was not reset if a player left a squad and then changed to a different scenario server.

[Custom Server] Updates

[Custom Servers] New Weapon/Armor/Item Customization Function

A new customization function will be available in Custom Server > Server Settings > Gameplay Settings.

1. Weapon Customization: Using existing weapons as bases, you can freely customize their basic stats, as well as design new weapon traits and bonus effects. With dozens of effects to mix and match, you can create a unique weapon of your own.

2. Armor Customization: Freely set basic stats and armor effects across four dimensions, including Survival and Damage Output, with dozens of effects to mix and match.

3. Item Customization: You can now change the names and effects of food and potions.

4. General Feature: All customized content can be renamed and placed in loot crates or the Shop by the server host for players to obtain.

Server hosts, it's time to create an exclusive game mode that belongs to you!

* Customized Setting Limits: To ensure server data security and operational stability, there will be upper limits on custom server settings. The more customized content you add to the server, the closer you'll be to the limit. After reaching the limit, you won't be able to add more customized settings. Server hosts are advised to plan accordingly.

[Custom Servers] Server Host Incentive Campaign

To thank all custom server hosts for their contributions to the game's ecosystem, this update will bring a new incentive campaign. In addition to the standard revenue sharing, there will be lots of bonus rewards to claim!

How to Participate: In the game, go to Custom Server > Community Creation Program > Campaign tab to view and participate in the server host incentive campaign.

First Campaign: Revenue Bash

Period: May 13– May 27 (PT)

Rules: In addition to the existing revenue sharing, we're introducing an exclusive incentive pool! During the campaign, server hosts just need to actively manage their servers and grow their Activity Index to earn a share of the total net revenue from custom servers and receive dynamic bonus payouts.

Core Rewards: There's no upper limit on this incentive pool! The more the custom server ecosystem prospers and your Activity Index grows, the greater the bonus you'll earn! Server hosts, come build and promote your exclusive world!

Trade

To satisfy your trading needs, the maximum price for items listed for sale at Vending Machines or the Online Trading platform will be raised to 9,999,999 Energy Links.

Class

Increased the types of materials that can be farmed by the Gardener class's Material Cultivation ability. Gardeners can now farm the materials listed below in their territories. Also adjusted Material Cultivation's output to more reasonable levels.

Added Material Types: Flight Stick, Power Cord, Climbing Rope, Tire, Engine, Jack, Connector Firmware, Launcher, Coat Hangar, Diode, Welding Machine, Steel Pliers, Custom Cable, Versatile Screwdriver Set, Oven Mitts, Fuse, and Gunpowder.

Combat

1. To improve the combat experience of Sonivore encounters and provide fairer tactical gameplay, we are reducing the intensity of its mechanics. The Sonivore can now take damage, but it still cannot be permanently killed. Instead, when its HP is low, it will become stunned. While stunned, the Sonivore will continuously recover HP and cannot be damaged. After recovering, the Sonivore's aggro will be reset. Use this mechanic to gain valuable time to reposition.

2. Optimized the notification when encountering a Hoarder. Now, each character will only receive a pop-up notification when encountering a Hoarder for the first time, with no pop-ups shown for repeated encounters.

Pollution Zones

Optimized the wild planting interaction interface in Pollution Zones so it no longer prevents players from picking up items.

1. Fixed an issue where, when a player's territory was in certain regions, World information would be wrongly displayed in the World Map icon details.

2. Fixed an issue where, after recycling a facility, the items refunded via in-game mail had the wrong stats.

3. Fixed an issue where House Blueprints sometimes had incorrect previews and could not be used.

Redeem Shop

Fixed an issue where the Mod Shop could not be opened in the Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve scenario.

Other

Fixed an issue where the Molotov Cocktail sometimes had the visual effects of Inky Lotus - Invincible Sun.
