Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve – Scenario Official Launch and Optimizations

10/24/2025 Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve – Scenario Official Launch and Optimizations

Dear Metas,

Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve launches on October 29(PT)! Since the start of Early Access on September 24(PT), we've received lots of feedback and suggestions regarding this scenario, which has given us clear direction. Thank you for helping to make Once Human better!

Welcome to the world of Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve!

Scenario Introduction

Deviations are a crucial element of Once Human. They are much loved and sought after by Metas, making them one of the game's most important aspects. In the Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve scenario, Deviations take center stage. They'll appear all over the world, each with a unique ecosystem and habits, and will even fight by your side. In this scenario, finding ideal Deviation companions is crucial to progression. This unique mechanic delivers a fun experience that's completely different from other scenarios.

In this world, Deviations can be found everywhere, living in harmony with the world. You must discover their habitats, craft special capturing tools, and assemble a Deviation squad to grow stronger with you!

Here, the Symbiosis System will be unlocked, offering fun and relaxing progression. There's also a new PvE and PvP game mode: Deviation battles. You can challenge NPCs in arenas or engage in real-time competitive duels with other survivors.

Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve is a new standalone scenario, meaning your stats on other scenarios don't apply here. This means that veteran Metas and newcomers alike will have the same fun experience in this scenario! Join Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve now and embark on the path to becoming a Securement Master!

New Tasks

There are many more tasks compared to the Early Access version, helping you to familiarize yourself with this new world!

1. Main Story Tasks

Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve

Enter a fantastical world where Deviations of all shapes and sizes live in harmony with humans, leading to the creation of a unique combat system. As a Securement Expert, you must collect powerful Deviations, challenge the Deviation League, and become the greatest Securement Master in the land.

2. Side Story Tasks

Mastery of Securement

The path to becoming a Securement Master isn't easy. During your journey, you'll encounter setbacks and confusion. But when you hit a bottleneck, you'll meet your best friend in this world—Zeno. Together, you'll explore the liminal space between chaos and order, developing your skills and enduring crises. Investigate the secrets of chaos, uncover the truth behind the Deviations' frenzy, and protect the future of countless Deviations.

Call of Chaos

To stop the spread of chaos, Lowe tasks you with investigating the chaos gyms and giant Deviations. During the mission, however, you encounter a young boy who desperately needs help, sparking off a high-stakes wager concerning faith and chaos.

Early Access Optimizations

During Early Access, we received 5,482 pieces of feedback on the Co-Dev Feedback Platform. Based on your suggestions, we've implemented the following optimizations for the official launch of Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve:

1. Symbiosis System

a) Optimized the Symbiosis System access point. Added a button to the Symbiosis System below the scenario's main interface, making it easier to find and use the system.

b) Adjusted the Symbiosis Level. Increased the maximum Symbiosis Level from 5 to 10 and reduced the value requirement for each level, making progression more balanced.

c) Adjusted Deviation values. In addition to their inherent attributes, each Deviation's level now also affects their value. This makes it easier to reach value milestones in the late game.

d) Adjusted Deviation abilities. The level of captured Deviations now scales with your Symbiosis Level. Deviation abilities will also scale to match your Symbiosis Level. This means that your Symbiosis Level will determine how strong your Deviations are.

e) In each Deviation's information in the Symbiosis System, you can now view recommended lineups and skill information.

f) Added Deviation habitat information to the Symbiosis System.

g) Tech Memetics in the scenario are no longer locked by scenario progression. You can now unlock them once you reach the required Symbiosis Level.

h) In the arena, players are now matched based on Symbiosis Level and win rate. This ensures that you'll be matched with an opponent of comparable strength.

2. Deviation Fusion and Chaos Deviations

a) Removed Load values from fusion items, so they won't add to your burden during exploration.

b) Added detailed descriptions of various Skill Mutagens during fusion, so you can set goals more easily.

c) Removed the server-wide limit on obtaining Chaos Deviations during each scenario.

d) Added the Chaos Trials, a new challenge that unlocks when at Symbiosis Level 9. Here, you can challenge Chaos Deviations from each arena to earn Chaos Medals.

e) You can now use Chaos Medals to redeem Chaos Codes from the Arena Shops. You can purchase up to three from each Arena Shop.

f) Added new Morphed Deviations and fusion effects for functional attributes.

g) Adjusted the fusion mechanics. Activity Rating will no longer be reduced due to fusion.

3. Deviation Combat

a) Added a way to command Deviations to attack from the main interface, removing the need to target enemies using ranged attacks.

b) Optimized Deviations' targeting behavior. Deviations will now prioritize targets in the following order (from high to low priority): taunting enemies > marked enemies > your active target > enemies that damage you > enemies based on aggro.

c) Changed the position of the Deviation slots. They no longer occupy the place of the hotbar.

d) Auto-casting of Psi Skills is now available in the wilderness.

e) Optimized the behavior of Deviations when following you.

f) Reduced the density of humanoid enemies and Deviants in wilderness strongholds to reduce combat pressure.

4. Deviation Types

a) Added new Deviations: Whalepup, Soul Summoner, Zapamander, and Director Fox.

b) Added the non-scenario-exclusive versions of existing Deviations: Disco Ball, Harveseed, Hug-in-a-Bowl, Rain Man, Upper World Spawn, Artisan's Touch, Tar Pudding, Zapamander, Wish Box, Whalepup, Soul Summoner, and Director Fox.

5. Task and Tutorial Optimizations

a) Optimized the early tutorial task progression, making it easier to learn the rules of Deviation capture, Deviation battles, and the Symbiosis System.

b) Added blueprint drops for cold-resistant and heat-resistant gear to the main story tasks to help you explore the later regions.

c) Added the new side story task: The Faceless. Uncover the mystery of the Chaos Deviations.

6. Other

a) You can no longer die from heatstroke or hypothermia in this scenario.

b) Optimized the names of NPC arenas to clearly indicate their regional location. Optimized the arena information on the World Map to include arena lineups and rewards.

c) Added map tracking for Deviations generated via wishing in strongholds, making it easier to find your target.

d) Increased the Acid and Stardust Source drops in the scenario.

That's all for this Dev Blog! We want to create a new and fascinating scenario, so please share your feedback via the Co-Dev Feedback Platform, customer support, or our official communities.
