Optimizations In Progress

While we've made significant optimizations to Once Human based on your feedback, some optimizations haven't been implemented yet due to various considerations. Rest assured, we haven't forgotten them, and we're diligently working to make them a reality. What we're unveiling today is just the tip of the iceberg!

Optimization Plan

1. Increase the territory construction limits for components, furniture, facilities, etc.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Increasing the construction limits could compromise server stability and negatively impact the game experience. After extensive technical testing, we have decided to maintain the current limits for now. However, with ongoing game engine optimizations and further testing, it may be possible to raise these limits in the latter half of 2025.

2. Optimize the game's performance

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Enhancing the game's performance remains one of our top priorities. So far, we have conducted three rounds of performance optimizations, alongside targeted improvements to PvP combat, Chaosweaver battles, Blood Moon events, and more. Backend data reveals significant performance gains following these optimizations. However, new issues have also emerged, such as slowdown in EXP farming zones, lag while gliding, and delayed damage. We will incrementally optimize these issues and closely monitor performance in specific scenarios to ensure the best gaming experience.

3. I don't want the scenario system / Replaying scenarios is boring

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The scenario system is—and will always be— a cornerstone of Once Human. However, we acknowledge that scenarios can offer more replay value, and our team is working hard to achieve this. A new high-replayability scenario will enter testing this May, and other plans for this year include a new Visional Wheel cycle, overhauls to existing scenarios, and Combat System 2.0.

4. There are too many bugs

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As an open-world game with survival and crafting elements, Once Human features a vast map, a deep construction system, many weapon builds, a Deviation system, Eternaland, and much more—making it a highly complex game. Due to this, even minor changes or fixes may unintentionally introduce new bugs. To report bugs, press ESC > Feedback & Customer Support > Bug Report (for automatic report) OR Question Feedback (for human assistance). No matter which channel you use, all reported bugs will be promptly investigated and fixed.

5. Add a quick deposit/withdraw feature

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We plan to revamp the Storage, Item Backpack, and Gear Backpack in the latter half of this year, adding various quality-of-life features such as item locking, batch deposit/withdrawal, and cross-facility operations.

6. Add an appearance override system

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Currently, gear and cosmetics run on separate data structures, resulting in performance and gameplay issues. We are restructuring this framework, which will require extensive testing to prevent new problems. Once the data restructuring is finalized in the second half of this year, we will introduce an appearance override system as well.

7. Add a weapon/gear/item locking feature

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We plan to revamp the Storage, Item Backpack, and Gear Backpack in the latter half of this year, adding various quality-of-life features such as item locking, batch deposit/withdrawal, and cross-facility operations.

8. Allow the use of custom radio music

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Due to copyright law and the associated legal risks, players cannot import music into the in-game radio. However, we will continue to add more songs to our selection.

9. Increase the limit on ranch animals

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Similar to the territory construction limits, we are continuously working on performance optimizations so we can implement this feature. Hopefully, we'll be able to increase the limit on ranch animals by the second half of 2025.

10. Add a first-person perspective

⭐⭐⭐⭐

As Once Human is designed as a third-person shooter, introducing a first-person perspective would require a complete overhaul of its basic systems, fundamentally altering its identity. Moreover, the development time and potential impact on player experience are impossible to predict.

We will continue optimizing the OTS and Scope aim modes to cater to players who prefer a first-person view.

11. Add mirrored stairs

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mirrored structures, including stairs, will be added in the upcoming April 24 update.

12. Allow moving buildings within the territory

⭐⭐⭐⭐

We plan to allow players to move entire buildings within their territories. However, as this feature involves multiple construction systems, its development and testing will require some time. We aim to complete it by the second half of this year.

13. Add a Deviation fusion feature

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Deviation fusion is in development and expected to launch in the latter half of this year.

14. Add more vehicles / Improve vehicle handling

⭐⭐⭐⭐

We optimized vehicle handling on March 27. New vehicles are coming in the April 24 update.

15. The reasons for penalties in the reporting system are unclear

⭐⭐⭐⭐

By the first half of this year, we aim to implement a guided verification process after submitting reports, as well as optimized penalty notification emails.

16. I'm dissatisfied with the Treants in Pollution Zones

⭐⭐⭐⭐

On April 16, we will implement optimizations for Treants in Pollution Zones to address issues like being killed despite having full Sanity and Treants continuing to attack even when the player is facing them.

17. Let players customize the teleportation point in their territories

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Customized respawn points are in development and expected to launch in the first half of this year.

18. Let players craft Improved Compound Fertilizer in batches

⭐⭐⭐

Batch crafting will be implemented in the April 24 update.

19. Transport Impure Acid and Fuel automatically

⭐⭐⭐

The April 24 update will support transporting Impure Acid and Fuel via Pipes.

20. Optimize the friend deletion function (add batch delete)

⭐⭐⭐

Batch deletion of friends is in development and expected to launch in the latter half of this year.

21. Add a quick demolish feature

⭐⭐⭐

Quick demolishing is in development and will be added to Construction mode in the latter half of this year.

22. It doesn't make sense for ingredients to spoil in the Brewing Barrel

⭐⭐⭐

This issue will be fixed in the April 24 update. The brewing process will be moved from the Brewing Barrel to cooking facilities.

23. Add a dye feature for clothing and hairstyles

⭐⭐⭐

Starting in April, more clothing and hairstyle dyeing options will be gradually introduced with each update.

24. Show Public Crisis Event cooldown times on the map

⭐⭐⭐

We will add a filter function to the World Map, allowing players to view the remaining time for events and start time countdowns. This is expected to launch in the first half of this year.

25. I don't want to see any messages from blacklisted players

⭐⭐⭐

The blacklist feature will be optimized in the April 24 update. Blacklisted players cannot send you voice or chat messages, friend requests, or team requests.

26. Lunarspawn are too difficult, especially for solo players

⭐⭐⭐

On April 16, Lunarspawn will be optimized with dynamic difficulty settings based on the number of players.

27. Add social minigames to Eternaland

⭐⭐⭐

We plan to add social minigames to Eternaland in the second half of this year.

28. The Veil of Tranquility's range is too small

⭐⭐⭐

We will optimize the Veil of Tranquility to have multiple grades with different costs, effects, and ranges. This is expected to launch in the first half of this year.

29. I don't know how to leave Eternaland

⭐⭐⭐

We will improve the guidance for leaving Eternaland by the second half of this year.

30. Make Teleportation Towers carry over between scenarios

⭐⭐⭐

We will optimize Teleportation Towers so they carry over between scenarios by the first half of this year, so players don't have to unlock them every time.
