Dev Talk — Interaction & Audio Experience Optimizations

08/03/2024 Dev Talk — Interaction & Audio Experience Optimizations

Previously, we talked about our plans to address the feedback regarding the Combat 3C system (character, camera, and controls). This time, we are going to optimize the interactions and audio, and we hope to hear your thoughts on this.

[UI & Interaction Issues]

I. Players have been asking for a feature to customize more keybinds. Do you think this will happen in the future?

After an upcoming update, the settings will allow you to bind any keys to the existing functions. In the patch update on August 1st, we already made some keybinds available for configuration. Over the next month, we'll also allow players to customize the interaction button, the free camera building mode button, and the vehicle mode button.

II. About multilingual keyboards...

You can use multilingual keyboards. They are read by default, but they also support customization.

III. About switching weapons using the mouse wheel...

Over the next month, we'll add an option for players to turn off the mouse wheel in the settings.

IV. Players have been saying that when they enter or exit their territory, tips keep popping up, which can disturb their gaming experience. How will you solve this issue?

We are aware of this issue, and we plan to introduce an option for you to turn off such tips in the next month, so please bear with us while we work on it.

V. For tips that keep popping up on the right side of the screen (territory namecards), which can disturb the gaming experience, some players hope there will be an option to customize such tips.

This is exactly our thought. In the future, there will be an option for players to turn on/off the tips that keep popping up on the right side of the screen (territory namecards).

VI. Some players would like to customize how much information is displayed in the HUD. Do you think this would be possible?

Of course. Thank you for the suggestion. In the future, players can go to the settings and customize what modules are included in their HUD.

VII. Some players don't like how they can interact with doors. How do you plan to optimize this?

Regarding this issue, we plan to extend the interaction distance for doors by 30% so players can more easily open and close doors.

VIII. Some players hope there will be an option to block message flowers.

We actually have this option already. You can go to Settings -> Mouse/Screen -> Gameplay -> Interface Dynamic Display to disable the message flowers.

[SFX]

I. Some players have been asking if there will be more Radio music tracks. Do you have a plan for this?

We are working on adding more music in the future. For this, we have been closely working with NetEase Cloud so that players can listen to their favorite music in the game.

II. About the issue of the background music being too loud in the game, how do you plan to fix it?

Players can already turn down the background music volume in the game. Just go to Settings, and you can change it yourself (the volume of most audio can be adjusted there as well).

III. One request that players have been voicing is that they hope the weapon sound effects can be improved, which more or less has an impact on the overall gaming experience. Do you have a plan to address this?

Regarding the sound effects of some weapons, such as Fortress Warfare, we already have a plan in place to optimize it, especially the fade-out sound effect, which will become smoother in the future.

IV. Some players say that the footstep sounds in the game are monotonous. Why is that?

We have designed unique footstep sound effects for when characters come into contact with different textures, and these sound effects are already available in the game. If you are not hearing different footsteps, it might be a bug, so kindly report this issue via our Co-Dev platform, and we will make sure to resolve it. Thank you for your support!

V. Some PvP players think that the sound effect of getting hit has room for improvement. What do you think?

The player feedback we received is mixed, with some players thinking the volume is too low and others thinking it is too high. We will further test this issue and adjust it accordingly to optimize your gaming experience.

VI. Some players have been saying that the motorcycle honking sound effect volume is too low. What is that?

When players are listening to music, to make sure that they can hear the music clearly, the honking sound will be muffled out. Once you turn off the music, the honking sound will return to normal. Additionally, considering the honking sound is too loud, which might disturb other nearby players, we do have a mechanic in place to keep it under a certain level.

VII. Next question, we have "the prompting sounds in Pollution Zones are triggered too frequently." How do you plan to fix this?

For now, you can go to Settings and turn off this sound effect as a workaround. Meanwhile, we'll fix this issue in a future update.

VIII. About the issue of the Stardust Resonant Filter's sound being too loud, do you have a plan to fix this?

The current mechanic is that once you deposit an Echo Stone, the converter is activated, and it makes a sound. Regarding this issue, we heard you loud and clear, so we will adjust and optimize this sound effect accordingly in the future.

IX. How can I adjust the volume of radio, broadcast, and vehicle radio?

The volume of these sound effects can be adjusted at [Settings] -> [Audio] -> [Radio] (the volume of most sound effects can be adjusted in Settings). All these features are now available in the game, so feel free to try them.

Next, we will share how we have been optimizing the other aspects of the game. Feel free to tell us your ideas and thoughts. Thanks for supporting the game!
